Yam: Japanese hospital meals
Hospital food in our little frog country is not exactly something to write home about. When you look at what you’re served, you sometimes genuinely wonder whether they actually want to make you better in a hospital. How different it is in Japan!
Overcooked vegetables and a factory-made custard; it really can be done differently. In Japan, hospital meals are something to eagerly look forward to.
Actually delicious food
Salmon with a mushroom sauce, a bowl of soba noodles, a serving of rice and hijiki (seaweed salad)? They simply serve it when you’re lying in hospital in Japan after getting yourself into a real mess. Just like fried chicken with rice, coleslaw, a piece of tofu and miso soup. Yum. In the afternoon, you get a snack: a cream puff or a piece of cake with a cup of tea. Yes please! Could we please take a leaf out of their book?
You understand, I’d absolutely love to break my leg in Japan.
