10 products supermarket employees have no idea what you’re talking about, #4

Lidl supermarkt kassa

The life of supermarket employees isn’t all sunshine and roses. Of course, they can’t know everything, and sometimes the search for your beloved groceries takes a completely different turn. You came up with some more delicious examples in response to our article about products supermarket employees have no idea what you’re talking about. Like being sent to the meat department when you’re looking for bokkenpootjes, for example.

Snack tomatoes

Lindi thought everyone knew what snack tomatoes were. But the employee she asked, ‘Where can I find the snack tomatoes?’ tried to find them among the Haribo sweets… Well, you could be looking for a long time then.

Ginger

Cindy was standing in line at the checkout and heard a customer ask an employee where the ginger was. He didn’t know. A helpful customer came to the rescue and sent her to the soft drinks aisle, because that’s where the ginger ale was. Almost right.

Bokkenpootjes?

Nellie’s brother: ‘Can I ask you something? Where can I find the bokkenpootjes?’ Employee: ‘They’re in the meat department.’ Nellie: ‘Well, one thing’s for sure: the employee doesn’t like eating bokkenpootjes very much… they really are COOKIES.’

Piccawhut…

‘Piccawhut?’ thought the employee René asked where the piccalilly was: ‘There stood the poor employee, lost for words.’ Fortunately for René, the store manager happened to walk by at that moment and could show him where it was.

Spekkoek

At Mirjam’s Jumbo, the spekkoek was in the pork section. Or at least, that’s what the employee she asked told her.

Van Kips

‘Kips liver sausage rather than regular liver sausage…’ must have been what the employee thought when Bambi asked whether they sold chicken liver sausage. Bambi: ‘She came back with liver sausage from the Kips brand…’

Toast crackers

‘Where can I find the toast crackers?’ Lynn asked, to which the employee replied, ‘Who is Toostje?’ Lynn: ‘I think her mind just wasn’t on the toast crackers for a moment…’

In the leaflet

Well, we’ve all had an emergency at the supermarket at some point. Maike had to go once too and asked an employee, ‘Do you have a toilet?’, to which the employee replied, ‘Should I check the leaflet?’ Poor Maike almost wet her pants.

Vermicelli

Last week, Janita asked at Aldi where the vermicelli was. The poor guy kept rummaging among the spice jars. Janita: ‘I have no idea what he thought he’d find there that was even remotely related to vermicelli.’

0.0%?

Imagine being heavily pregnant and wanting to buy a six-pack of 0.0%—I repeat, 0.0%—Radler, only to be asked to show your ID. That happened to Anne. Fortunately, she was able to laugh about it.
