24 hours in Middelburg

There’s always something to do—and especially something to eat—in every city. From breakfast to an overnight stay. With these tips, you can eat your way through 24 hours in Middelburg.

Spring has arrived, so we can start thinking about a sunny weekend in our own country. That’s why we’ve put together the tastiest addresses for you for a culinary day in Middelburg.
Breakfast
Have it at Honeypie. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or tea with an incredibly sweet slice of brightly colored cake or a tasty sandwich. It may be a little twee, but hey, there’s something charming about that too. All the seats at Honeypie taken? Then walk on to Røst or go for the Zeeland butter toffee cheesecake at Koffiepand.

Lunch
At De Drukkerij, you have lunch among the books. It’s a bookshop with a lunchroom (or a lunchroom with a bookshop, if you prefer). Looking for old-fashioned coziness and classics on your plate? Then De Vriendschap is the place for you.
Drinks
For Zeeland beer, you need to go to De Mug. Mug Bitter has been brewed by brewery ‘t IJ in Amsterdam since 1988. Since 1997, it has been brewed on Zeeland soil at De Scheldebrouwerij. Mug Bitter is brewed with two types of malt and three types of hops. The flavor has a pleasant bitterness and a fruity aroma.
Not much of a beer fan? Then you really have to stop by Vliegendt Hert. They have a large selection of wines, a liquor store and a tasting room. At the wine bar, you can taste all kinds of wines, of course accompanied by a delicious drinks platter.
Dinner
Want to really pamper yourself? Restaurantje Nummer 7 guarantees an evening of culinary enjoyment. In the mood for a more laid-back yet special restaurant? Then De Gouden Bock is a great choice. Here you’ll enjoy lovely dishes made with local seasonal produce. Think red gurnard or ravioli with smoked eel.

Nightcap
It’s always gezellig at Seventy Seven. The relaxed atmosphere and diverse crowd make everyone feel at home here. In the evening, the music gets a little louder and you can catch up over a craft beer.
Sleep
Stay at the beautiful Kloostertuin. The old school building is now an energy-neutral property where you can sleep wonderfully and upgrade your breakfast to a champagne breakfast. Good morning! Another charming place is B&B Scherp, above the fish restaurant of the same name. Here you’ll sleep in comfortable, rustic rooms. Another nice touch: with an overnight stay, you get a discount at the restaurant.
