24h Amsterdam is an initiative by the municipality of Amsterdam to introduce people to shops, museums, theaters, hotels and clubs in other districts. On September 24, the Zuid district is in the picture and activities are organized everywhere. FavorFlav has selected the best ones for you.
Portuguese tasting
At delicatessen shop A Loja you’ll find Portuguese wines, port, cheese, fish and coffee from local businesses. During a special tasting at 5:00 p.m., you’ll get to know wines and canned sardines.

Registration: not required (be on time, because once it’s full, it’s full)
Neighborhood parade
You can eat, drink, shop and dance all day at the neighborhood market on Jan Pieter Heijestraat. You’ll find, among other things, beer specialty shop The Beer Tree, Trakteren Koffie, Golden Brown Bar, Bar Brä, a handful of delicatessens and a few clothing stores.

Foraging walk Zuidas
Apparently, all sorts of things grow in Zuidas that you can pick and eat. You’ll discover all about it during a foraging walk through the district. The one-and-a-half-hour tour starts at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Beethovenstraat/Gustav Mahlerlaan.

Beer tasting
Come taste the ‘triple cripple’, ‘midnight ride’ and ‘Sjaak’ at Butcher’s Tears brewery. You can also take a tour of the brewery from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The tasting room is open from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Cost: beer prices range from € 2.50 (draft) to € 6.00 (bottle).

Night of Madness
Did you know Van Gogh had an illness? During the Night of Madness at the Van Gogh Museum, you’ll learn all about it. Expect a night with music by Lucky Fonz III & Wicked Jazz Sounds, talks by, among others, Damiaan Denys, an absinthe bar, pub quiz and performances by Labyrinth Psychotica and Nepco. There are timeslots throughout the night that you can choose when you register.
Cost: nothing, but do bring a piece of mail with your name and postal code
