5x quick & easy party dips

dips

Yes, yes, we know: nothing is as quick as raiding the Appie and buying every possible variety of hummus. But spend just a little more time on it and you’ll see (well, taste, mostly) that it’s more than worth making these dips yourself.

Yoghurt
Tzatziki is delicious, but why not try borani esfanaaj; an Iranian yoghurt dip. In this recipe, it’s made with spinach and mint, but there are also varieties with boiled beetroot or roasted aubergine.

Muhammara
The name of this roasted red pepper dip always makes me think of someone laughing really evilly (Mojo Jojo, to be precise), but that doesn’t change the fact that it tastes amazing. The smoky pepper, spicy chilli flakes, sweet pomegranate and creamy walnuts make it a dip that goes well with everything.

Aubergine
Are you, like me, crazy about aubergine? Then you can of course serve up some delicious baba ganoush, but definitely also try this roasted aubergine jam. Now I can hear you thinking: aubergine jam, really? Yes, really. The combination of sweet and salty is fantastic on a lamb burger, but also on toasted (flat)bread.

Hummus
Don’t let the intro to this article mislead you; I absolutely love hummus (how could I not, with my name), but preferably homemade and slightly pimped up. How about this miso hummus with fried onions and furikake, for example?

Guacamole 2.0
The best guacamole I’ve ever eaten, I ate – you’ll never guess – in Bali. Admittedly, I’ve never been to Mexico or Central America, so maybe that has something to do with it. But the guac in Bali (Mana restaurant in Uluwatu) was made with xni pec, mango, tamarillo tomato, dill and roasted peanuts. Mmmm.
