5x the best sunny spots in Utrecht

It’s going to be a warm weekend. A perfect opportunity to enjoy the spring sunshine on a terrace with a snack and a drink. Here are five places to make the most of the sun in Utrecht.

De Poort
This terrace is located on the lively Ledig Erf and serves a top-notch selection of bar snacks and other bites to enjoy with drinks. Run out of things to talk about? At De Poort, there are various card and board games to keep you entertained. Is it getting a little too chilly outside? Opposite De Poort is the Louis Hartlooper Complex, where they show arthouse films.
Het Gegeven Paard
The view isn’t anything to write home about, but the sunshine is, and the gin and tonics even more so. Het Gegeven Paard is located on the side of Tivoli Vredenburg and overlooks the road, where mainly city buses pass by. The sun still shines on the terrace until late afternoon, and the steps by the water are also perfect for a picnic with your own drinks.
Spaghetteria
Spaghetteria can be found on the Wittevrouwensingel and Korte Koestraat, where you can get the tastiest pasta and enjoy sitting in the sun. It’s the perfect place for people-watching and enjoying Italian lemonade. For dessert, definitely order the tiramisu—it’s incredibly delicious here.

Lebowski
Crazy and quirky are the words that best describe Grand Café Lebowski. Inside, you’re surrounded by stuffed animals, and the terrace looks as if you’ve walked into a garage sale. That’s also what makes the café so appealing. It’s tucked away behind the Dom, and they have blankets to snuggle under while it’s still a little cooler outside. Enjoy sandwiches with names like Egg Slut or The Funky Vegetarian, and their chilly cheese fries are an absolute must.
JackRabbit
The Neude is almost too busy for a relaxing seat, but the food at JackRabbit is such a strong recommendation that it still deserves a spot on the list. The dinner menu features plenty of Asian influences, while at lunch you can enjoy delicious American pancakes with Nutella and fresh berries. Thanks to the patio heaters, it’s still cozy when the sun disappears.
