6 Things Every McDonald’s Fan Immediately Recognizes

Don’t let FavorFlav’s Sharon hear this, because she never goes to Mickey D’s. But we know them: colleagues who would rather end a trip abroad with a final supper at McDonald’s. Because a vacation without Maccie simply isn’t a real vacation, according to the McDonald’s fans at the office. And no matter which country you’re staying in, those French fries and crispy nuggets never disappoint.

Recognition for all McDonald’s fans
As former colleague Ella from Amayzine said: ‘I can’t imagine that a day will ever come when I’m no longer interested in visits to Mickey D’s. After all, it’s a familiar piece of childhood nostalgia, so why would we have to say goodbye to something so good?’
The following points will surely sound familiar to all my fellow McDonald’s fans:
1. You’ve been ordering the same thing for years
Maccie lovers naturally have their regular order. You rarely deviate from it, and when you do decide to try something different for once, you regret it nine times out of ten. My standard order: six chicken nuggets with sweet-and-sour sauce, medium fries with fries sauce and a vanilla milkshake. Delicious.
2. A different menu abroad makes you furious
Okay, every McDonald’s naturally tastes exactly the same, whether you’re in the Netherlands or on the other side of the world, but what many countries do not have is that delicious fries sauce from back home, and that really gets me down. What’s an even worse nightmare, by the way, is the absence of sweet-and-sour sauce from the menu. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced that before, which meant I was forced to eat barbecue sauce with my nuggets. What a disaster.
3. That toy from the Happy Meal keeps surprising you
When I’m in a mild and not-too-hungry mood, I often order a Happy Meal with nuggets. And it simply doesn’t matter how old you are; that cheerful surprise box keeps making you happy. I’ll admit that I always look at my toy immediately and only then start eating.
4. In the car, you’re always on the lookout for golden arches
The same applies here: you’re as happy as a child when you spot a golden M from the car. Because what could be better than driving through that McDrive for a moment and then devouring your order in your car in the parking lot? I always firmly believe it’s a sign when that M appears along my route while I’m driving.
5. You hate all of Mickey D’s competitors
Burger King or KFC? I really want nothing to do with them. I also don’t understand how some people think they all resemble one another, because they’re truly completely different worlds. Those limp, thin fries from Mickey D’s simply can’t be matched.
6. You find it incomprehensible that people feel too old for McDonald’s
This really makes my jaw drop. All of a sudden, people suddenly think they’re too grown-up for Mickey D’s? It’s true—I actually know them in my own circles: friends who think it’s childish to dine at McDonald’s. Isn’t that incomprehensible? I genuinely hope to keep coming here my entire life. And what I’d really love later on is that golden card. With it, seniors (65+) receive a standard discount at McDonald’s. As far as I’m concerned, that would complete the circle.
