8x these are the most unhealthy chip flavors in the world

As a snack, I really think chips are the absolute best. With drinks, in between meals, for breakfast; chips can be eaten anytime. Too bad I have the gift of loving everything that is extremely delicious, which also happens to be extremely unhealthy. And then it turns out that some chip varieties are actually really bad too…

That there are also chip flavors I don’t necessarily need to try, I already wrote about recently. But this article is just a little grimmer. This is about the chips you might actually want to try, but would be better off leaving alone. You think you’re being ‘just’ unhealthy with your bag of chips, but you’re actually doing much worse. There are chip flavors that take it one step further and are genuinely many times worse for you. THE HORROR. So, here you go: these are the flavors you want to avoid. Or not, right? You do you.
1. Herr’s Salt & Vinegar
Let’s start with the worst one right away, because according to our friends at Eat This Not That, these are the worst chips on the entire planet due to the gigantic amount of salt they contain. The packaging does of course already tell you that, but of all the Salt & Vinegar flavors, this one is the absolute no-go.

2 Lay’s Barbecue
I personally find this really very upsetting, because this is my favorite. And not the barbecue flavor we sometimes have in the Netherlands. This BBQ comes in a black bag and is available in France, for example, and it is SO DELICIOUS. Seriously: try it. The best chips ever, but also really unhealthy. That’s because of all the fat in it: a standard serving already contains half the amount of fat you should have in an entire day. Oof.

3. Pringles Baconator Chips
I do think the name is absolutely fantastic, but you’d better leave them alone… Although I did expect that, a chip flavor with bacon. It’s basically two of the most unhealthy things you can think of combined into one. Can’t end well. And then they even put a cheeseburger on the box to make it extra clear. Small upside: these chips are only available in America.

4. Ruffles Original
Aiii, this one hurts too. I think Ruffles chips are just so delicious. The flavor and, yes, those ridges, right? They really make it. But if even the original is already terrible for you, that’s not exactly pleasant news. And the reason they’re not good for you is their high fat content.
5. Pringles Sour Cream ‘n Onion
And we’ll continue with the bad news for a little while, because these are simply available on our supermarket shelves. And I also really like them. In general, I always think chips taste best when they have lots of powder on them. With these, you’re in luck. The reason they’re unhealthy is surprising, though: the extensive use of soybean oil. It’s not good for you, and there’s a lot of it in these chips.

6. Doritos Nacho Cheese
Yesss, EVEN MORE bad news. Because let’s be honest: these chips are incredibly delicious, right? And as I just said about that powder, there’s so much of it on these too, in the best way. These are truly the ideal chips to serve with drinks. That’s because of the famously gigantic fat content.

7. Ruffles Baked Cheddar & Sour Cream
Okay, wait a second: the bag says in gigantic letters that it contains 65% less fat, and it’s still on this list? What kind of practices are these? Never fall for this marketing trick again, at least not with Ruffles: whatever they save on fat, they make up for by stuffing them with a shitload of salt.

8. Cheetos Flamin’ Hot
Aaahh, I always love these too. Fortunately, we don’t have them in the Netherlands either, but from now on I’ll leave them alone when I’m in America too. That Flamin’ Hot flavor is so delicious, but it’s created using all kinds of artificial flavours and those aren’t very good for you. The orange color is also made with these chemical products. All in all, not very healthy, then.
