Albert Heijn doubles its vegan and vegetarian range

Vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians can rejoice, because Albert Heijn is expanding its selection of vegetarian, vegan and plant-based products by doubling its range. To achieve this, 70 own-brand products are being added to the range. From breakfast and lunch to dinner.

“It is our mission to make better food accessible to everyone. For a while, meat played the leading role on our plates, and that has changed in recent years. That is good news, because eating meat has a greater impact on the environment and your health than people think. If we eat vegetarian and plant-based foods more often, together we can significantly reduce CO2 emissions. That is better for the animals and healthier for ourselves,” says Anita Scholte Op Reimer, Director of Quality & Sustainability at Albert Heijn.
70 new products
That is why Albert Heijn is expanding its selection even further this autumn with 70 new products. From vegan meal kits, plant-based slices of ‘cheese’ and ‘grated cheese’, plant-based spreads to vegan deli meats such as grilled sausage, roasted chicken fillet and vegan frikandellen, boneless wings, various burgers and plant-based dairy. Well done, Albert Heijn!
Tip!
Make sure to try the mini frikandel; “finally, genuinely good vegan frikandellen”, according to our non-vegan Snackspert.
