Another great tip for softening butter!

zachte boter

Bringing cold butter to room temperature quickly; we’ve talked about it before. You simply need butter in different forms for different preparations. And super annoying, right, when you’re standing there staring into the microwave thinking ‘this is going to be fine’ until within a split second a little pool of melted butter has formed and you actually have to start over..?

That’s why we’re more than happy to share the tips that brighten up your butter-softening life. The grater tip has already come up, and of course you know the one about ‘cutting it into very small cubes’, but this one is also great:

Pinggg

Fill a microwave-safe measuring cup with water and put it in the microwave for twenty seconds on full power. Then pour out the water and place the hot cup upside down over the plate with the cold butter. HANDY!

Model chef

The tip comes from Chrissy Teigen, former model, enthusiastic amateur chef and keen sharer of tips and recipes on social media. At one point, she got half of America baking banana bread, after also saying that she no longer had any ripe bananas at home and dozens of people came to leave some on her doorstep. Now that’s community!

We’re fans in any case, and will never again kick ourselves when we once more fail to read the recipe properly before discovering that the butter really did need to be at room temperature. Happy baking!
