10x the most delicious Father’s Day breakfasts (breakfast in bed optional)

If, like us, you simply do whatever you feel like when it comes to food, you can be completely against clichés one moment and embrace them the next. Father’s Day, for example! And even when no one feels like having breakfast in bed, it can still be incredibly fun and delicious to start the day with a breakfast that is just a little more exciting than your everyday bowl of muesli. So if you feel like doing something extra for the father in your life OR YOURSELF, here are ten top breakfast tips!

From a comfort breakfast with an enormous amount of melted cheese to a healthy frittata for the fitdad, at FavorFlav we have something for everyone. Here is a list of 10 amazing breakfast dishes that can, of course, easily double as brunch:
Banana bread waffles
Baking banana bread is fun, but making waffles with the batter is even more fun! Faster, and it looks festive too. Add a little soft, thick cream and some of those beautiful healthy raspberries, and you have a breakfast that screams I love you!
Shakshuka
Breakfast, lunch, dinner; we could eat shakshuka all day long. The fact remains that it is a dish you would be more than happy to wake up to, and if you feel like mixing things up, we also have delicious recipes such as spinach and salmon shakshuka and aubergine shakshuka. Absolutely delicious!
Espresso martini pancakes
If Dad feels like a boozy breakfast, then that is exactly what he gets! For example, in the form of these amazing espresso martini pancakes: deliciously fluffy pancakes with a dollop of heavenly boozy cream. And totally doable, really—it’s not as if the rest of the day then has to be spent in some kind of drunken haze in bed; it’s pretty harmless!
Fried rice with egg
Egg fried rice is an incredibly simple, wonderfully flavorful savory breakfast from Asia, and also the perfect way to use up leftover white rice. If you’re dealing with a spicy dad, of course put out a bottle of sriracha or another hot sauce, or some delicious sambal.
Good old grilled cheese
Admit it, having a super grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast is something you’d happily eat every day, right? Make it with thick slices of bread in a frying pan as a pan-toasted sandwich, and go all out with the filling. A tuna melt, for example, or one of the other winners from our list of the best grilled cheese sandwiches.
Congee
Perhaps the ultimate comfort breakfast: a bowl of steaming, fragrant, soft rice with delicious toppings such as mushrooms, leftover crispy pork belly or a perfectly boiled egg. If that seems a little too intense for the morning, you can always sleep in and serve this for lunch instead!
Quiche
It may sound heavy, but by using vegetable tortillas instead of a pastry crust, you can make a slightly lighter quiche that most fathers (and especially fitdads) will be very happy with! It still contains plenty of ingredients such as eggs, cream and bacon, so Dad won’t feel like he’s being forced to go on a diet or anything with this tortilla quiche with pesto and egg.
Tamago Sando
Calling this creation an ‘egg sandwich’ doesn’t do it justice; it’s an Instagram hit for a reason, and it really does look incredible. Here you’ll find an explanation (thanks to the fantastic podcast Wat schaft de podcast) of how to make such a special tamago sando!
Frittata
Also a great choice for the father who goes through life doing CrossFit, mountain biking and kickboxing: a light vegetable frittata from the air fryer. Packed with vegetables and deliciously savory thanks to the goat cheese. It also keeps well and can be taken along chilled to the Father’s Day picnic drinks!
Pizza egg
Ultimate happiness, and you really don’t have to deal with pizza dough at eight in the morning. These are basically just eggs cooked in a pan with tomato, mozzarella and basil, and yes, they taste exactly as delicious as they sound. Just wait—before you know it, he’ll want this for breakfast every day. Entirely understandable!
