At Home with Jonnie and Thérèse

Have you (like us) always wanted to take a look inside Jonnie and Thérèse Boer’s kitchen? Then we have good news: you can now. In their new book Thuis, the two give you a peek into their kitchen—more precisely, their private kitchen.

Anyone who thought that Jonnie and Thérèse eat at home what they serve at De Librije is mistaken. On the contrary, if we are to believe the three-Michelin-star chef, they eat very ‘ordinary’ food at home.
Really for everyone
In Jonnie & Thérèse Thuis, you can read about what that ‘ordinary’ food actually is. And good news: anyone can make it. ‘Yeah, right,’ we hear you thinking. But no, really: think cornichons wrapped in bacon. A child could do it.
The book is divided into five chapters. Each one is linked to activities that Jonnie and Thérèse do with friends every year: smoking eel, wine evenings, boating in a sloop and hare hunting. Chapter five is the party chapter: full of small bites.
Uncomplicated
Another nice touch: in the book, Thérèse wants to show that finding a suitable wine for your meal is not nearly as complicated as it sometimes seems. Each dish includes a drink suggestion, but it also explains why she recommends it, so you can easily ask for advice at your own wine shop.
To ensure that the book is truly easy to understand, the couple enlisted the help of NRC journalist Joël Broekaert. He translated the wine notes and recipes to turn them into a genuine home-cooking cookbook.
