At these bakeries you’ll find the tastiest Easter breads in all of the Netherlands

Paasbrood

Thickly spread with butter or simply with the almond paste from the bread, a good Easter bread on the table would be welcome every weekend as far as I’m concerned. But where can you get the tastiest one? For that, you need to head east and north, as shown by the Easter bread competition of the Echte Bakkersgilde.

Around 130 Echte Bakkers are affiliated with the Echte Bakkersgilde. During the Easter bread judging, in which the Echte Bakkers compete for the title of ‘Best Easter Bread in the Netherlands’, no fewer than 130 Easter breads were judged by the professional jury this year.

The best Easter bread in the Netherlands

You’ll find the best Easter bread in the Netherlands in Holten and Zutphen at Nijkamp, De Echte Bakker. You can score the second-best bread in the Netherlands in Apeldoorn at Toet, De Echte Bakker. In the Groningen area? Then make a beeline for Timmer, De Echte Bakker, for the bronze-winning Easter bread. You can get the award-winning bread at their shops in Gasselte, Stadskanaal and Gasselternijveen.
