Barbecue documentary on Netflix

We can spend hours gazing at meat being roasted over smoke or fire. Whether it’s American barbecue, where meat slowly cooks for nights on end, or Anthony Bourdain eating babi guling in Bali. Do you feel exactly the same? Then you’ll be very happy with this film.

Barbecue is the title—short but all-encompassing. The film’s director, Matthew Salleh, visited twelve countries to explore their barbecue cultures. A succession of BBQ shots that will make your mouth water, from lechon in the Philippines to yakitori in Japan.

The film also shows you how barbecue helps build communities, friendship and tradition. The film was received with great enthusiasm at the American culture festival SXSW. From August 15, you can also watch it in your pajamas, because that’s when it will be available on Netflix.
