Beautiful & delicious Amelisweerd

Utrecht’s Amelisweerd is an oasis of tranquillity on the outskirts of the Randstad. Here you can walk, sunbathe, canoe and, above all, eat extremely well.

Amelisweerd in Bunnik was created around three country houses. The associated estates are now connected to one another. There are romantic paths, cosy corners, soft lawns and special views of the Dom Tower. Young and old come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

De Veldkeuken

At De Veldkeuken, they make everything themselves. From organic bread to cakes, salads and soups. Buy a loaf of bread with a jar of jam and sit down in the grass, or settle on the terrace for a light lunch or a coffee with something sweet. The guests here are mainly young mothers, the occasional hipster and some older people. In fact, everyone who is a fan of organic food and freshly picked flavourings.

Theehuis Rhijnauwen

Perhaps the best-known pancake house in the Utrecht area. In the garden by the water, you can moor your canoe. It is incredibly beautiful, but also incredibly busy. Think of situations where people sprint as soon as a table becomes available on the terrace (it really happened!). That does not detract from the fact that they serve good pancakes here and that the sunny garden is a very pleasant place to sit.

Vroeg

Restaurant Vroeg also has its own bakery. In addition, they have their own line of products, from jam to apple juice. These and many other local products can be bought in the farm shop. In summer, they bake good, hearty fries, and in winter they consistently rank among the top five in the AD oliebollen test. Vroeg is rustic, slightly trendy and also somewhat more luxurious than the other eateries on the list.
