When you say party, you say champagne. But what do you say at the 150th anniversary of an imperial champagne? Yes, we don’t know either. Glitter? Glamour? Opulence? Superlatives fall short. But one thing we do know: we want to be part of that party.

And that’s possible. But more on that later. First, a brief history lesson: Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial, now Moët Impérial, was presented 150 years ago (for those who aren’t so quick at math: in 1869) as a tribute to the imperial relationship with Napoleon Bonaparte. Since then, the ‘Impérial’ has been an essential part of the legendary wine house, and that deserves a party.

And not just any party. No, no. On November 8, the Winter Garden of Amsterdam’s Krasnapolsky hotel will be transformed into—I quote—’a champagne dinner of regal grandeur.’ 150 lucky guests can look forward to ‘a sparkling experience’ and a ‘bubbly evening.’ You see: the copywriter has done their best.

Star-studded dinner

Anyway, alongside towering, gushing champagne pyramids, you can also expect imperial food. Because hey: with liters of champagne ahead of you, you need to line your stomach. Consider it taken care of. Three-Michelin-starred chefs Yannick Alléno and Jacob Jan Boerma will assist Randy Karman—chef de cuisine of The White Room restaurant—in the kitchen. If that doesn’t turn into a royal feast, I don’t know what will.

Tickets cost 150 euros per person (including champagne) and can be ordered here.

Personalized bottle

Can’t make it? Don’t worry. From November 7, a Moët & Chandon pop-up store will appear at De Bijenkorf. The limited-edition Moët Impérial bottle, created by the brand for the anniversary, will be available here, and you can also have the regular bottle personalized. Et voilà: the perfect St. Nicholas/Christmas gift. The pop-up store will be there until the end of the year.
