Chefs on stage at De Melkweg

So many artists, so many tastes. Starting October 18, they will all come together during The Food Stage at De Melkweg. For three months, various chefs will cook their favourite street food.

Together with The Food Line Up, De Melkweg is making an effort to give chefs a platform. Sometimes quite literally, as some of the dishes are prepared ‘live’ on a pop-up workbench. Each evening, three to four chefs can be seen in De Melkweg’s restaurant, preparing around twelve dishes together, priced at approximately €8.50 each.

I’ve been saying for years that food is the new going out. The Food Stage is the ultimate example of that.

Street food specials
A lot of cooking and shaking goes on during The Food Stage. Think of the famous ‘patatje kamikaze’, dim sum, as well as sweet potato waffles with confit duck. In short: something for everyone. And the great thing about street food is that the dishes are small, so you can sample a bit of everything. Afraid you won’t be able to manage that? With these tips, you’ll learn to eat like a sailor.

The line-up is announced weekly on the website of The Food Stage. Some of the stars at The Food Stage include Brandt & Levie, Glacier Fou, Tess Posthumus and Timo Janse. Live cooking takes place every Friday and Saturday. During the Amsterdam Dance Event, the opening hours are extended.
