Christmas: four courses on the BGE

BGE-kalkoen-header

The BGE is every barbecue enthusiast’s dream. And although many people mainly associate barbecuing with summer, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t use it in winter. You can prepare this entire Christmas menu on the BGE, and it is guaranteed to impress for all four courses.

All four are classics that you would probably normally make in the oven or on the stovetop, but this preparation gives them a subtle smoky flavor. Extra festive, in other words. And yes, you can even bake a chocolate cake this way. All the courses can be prepared well in advance, so on the evening itself you only have a few things left to do. That way, you can enjoy a cozy evening with your guests too.

Scallops and shrimp

As an amuse-bouche, make a grilled scallop in the shell with hazelnut and grilled chicory. The bitterness of the chicory pairs wonderfully with the scallop’s sweetness, and because you prepare it in its shell, you immediately have a beautiful way to serve it. The first course is a shrimp cocktail. A retro dish like no other, and you grill the shrimp, avocado, and tomato for even more flavor.

Turkey

Of course, it isn’t Christmas without a turkey on the table. For the best result, choose an organic or free-range bird. Boers&Boers has excellent ones and delivers to your home, or visit your local butcher or poultry specialist. Stuff the turkey with ground chicken thigh, including cranberries and chestnut mushrooms.

Chocolate cake

For dessert, a chocolate cake with a layer of blueberry mousse, covered with chocolate glaze. If you still have room for it. Ready to get started on these Christmas dishes? You’ll find all the recipes below.
