During the CinemAsia Film Festival 2016 there will be an interesting talk at the Kriterion cinema in Amsterdam. Three Dutch-Asian chefs will discuss the importance of food in the culture and identity of Asians. And of course, there will be plenty of films to watch.

Every year, CinemAsia showcases the latest Asian films (both blockbusters and more artistic productions). In addition to the films, events are organised during the festival around themes and topics from the films.

One of these events is the talk about the documentary Off The Menu. This film explores how family, tradition, faith, and place shape Asian Americans’ relationship with food. Tosao van Coevorden of De Japanner, Paul Toorop of Toko Toorop and Fow Pyng HU of ramen shop LE FOU FOW will discuss this subject, led by Janno Lanjouw (co-founder and director of the Amsterdam Food Film Festival).
