Cleaning the deep fryer: here’s how to do it easily and quickly

With all those deliciously greasy chicken wings, deep-fried ravioli and oliedellen, the deep fryer is regularly roaring away. If you do it properly, you can actually reuse frying oil several times. But after a while, you really will have to bite the bullet and give the whole thing a thorough clean from top to bottom. Not exactly a fun chore, but with these tips it’ll be done in no time.

All you need is some kitchen paper, a dishwasher tablet and, if necessary, a steel scrubber to scrub the basket and heating elements clean.
Here’s how to do it step by step
- Pour the old frying oil into an empty plastic bottle. Neeeever pour it down the sink, because that causes blockages!
- Use the kitchen paper to wipe the remaining oil and coarse residue out of the deep fryer.
- Put the frying basket back and fill the deep fryer with water up to the rim.
- Put the dishwasher tablet in and turn the deep fryer on to the lowest setting for about 10 minutes.
- Then turn it off, let everything cool down, pour away the dirty water and wipe everything thoroughly dry once more with kitchen paper. Job done!
