Coffee hotspots in Breda

Coffee lovers, take note. At these five coffee shops in Breda, you can sip the very best cups of coffee. Each one serves classic coffees, but sometimes some very special ones too. Plus: lots of cake.

Inspire
The small Inspire is always packed, and we can see why. As soon as we look at the menu, we spontaneously get choice anxiety: everything sounds delicious. You can choose from around forty coffee combinations: from Seattle (latte with chocolate and whipped cream) and Re-fill (filter coffee that you can refill yourself at the bar) to Iced C-Star (iced cappuccino with caramel, whipped cream and Malteser crunch). Enjoy your drink at a tiny table or on a chill sofa.
Inspire knows exactly what we feel like; you won’t find ordinary hot chocolate here, but warm milk with melting Maltesers. And in your milkshake, you’ll spot a chunk of chocolate. Oh, and we haven’t even mentioned all the cakes and cookies yet. One look at the bar says it all.

In Kannen en Kruiken
If there’s no room left at Inspire, walk a little further. Two minutes away, you’ll find IKEK. A noteworthy fact: besides drinking lots of coffee, you can also have breakfast there all day long. Yoghurt with strawberries, honey and chocolate chunks, French toast made with sugar bread and speculaas spices: bring it on. Another bonus: IKEK sells cakes from Bakatelier and has a huge, sunny indoor garden. Ideal for sipping your coffee.

Koffie bij Teun
Did you know that Koffie bij Teun is one of the best coffee shops in the entire Netherlands? The shop is listed in the Dutch Coffee Top 100, in ninth place. You can choose from classic coffees—a ristretto or a maroccino with hazelnut spread—or go for a latte mellow (with marshmallows on top) or a latte with apple pie syrup. In need of some refreshment? Simply order a carafe of homemade iced tea.
De Barones 17
Sowieso
The owner of this establishment worked on a coffee plantation in Colombia for a while. Back in the Netherlands, he decided to do something with coffee again. He became a barista and learned how to roast coffee. Now he sells coffee (also to go) made from beans from his own roastery. With your coffee, enjoy a slice of his homemade carrot cake or try the bounty cake. Oh yes: Sunday is pancake day.
Nieuwstraat 46
Barista Café
With its super-clear menu, Barista Café quickly explains the difference between coffees that, until recently, seemed similar. So a latte isn’t the same as a latte macchiato, and a lungo is different from an americano. Which one will you choose? Or will you go for a café bombón: one with a splash of condensed milk at the bottom? Whatever you choose, you’ll be sitting right on the Grote Markt, so you’ll be in a lively spot either way.
