Coming soon in Amsterdam: omakase restaurant Diptych

diptych omakase restaurant

After her ice cream parlour Ludo & Hedo, artist Ola Lanko is opening an omakase restaurant in Amsterdam on 11 April. This restaurant, called Diptych, seats a maximum of eight people, and the chef decides what you eat. A restaurant with a unique experience.

At Diptych, the dining experience will be personal and special. Here, you completely put your meal in the chef’s hands. The restaurant has eight seats, all at the chef’s counter, as shown in the photo above the article. As a guest, you can therefore see how the food is prepared, while the chef tells you during the preparation what you will be eating and which ingredients she uses. At Diptych, you will soon be able to enjoy a seven-course lunch (€37, excluding drinks) or an eleven-course dinner (€58, excluding drinks). Ola Lanko is inspired by Japanese cuisine, but gives it her own distinctive twist.

Omakase: I’ll leave it up to you

The term ‘omakase’ is best translated as ‘I’ll leave it up to you’. With this way of cooking and serving, the guest places complete trust in the chef and allows themselves to be fully guided by the chef’s choices. Not only when it comes to food, but also in conversations, entertainment and the flow of the dinner.

Diptych will open its doors on 11 April on Potgieterstraat in Amsterdam.
