Coming soon on TV: new docuseries featuring Dutch star chefs
Among others, Jonnie Boer, Syrco Bakker and Joris Bijdendijk play leading roles in the new series De Sterrenkaart, which can be seen in the Netherlands from Sunday, March 1.
Each episode of the five-part docuseries focuses on one chef and their restaurant. The top chefs are followed closely. What does the daily work in a Michelin-starred kitchen look like? What is the magic of a Michelin star? What sacrifices and efforts are needed to compete at the culinary top? And what are the ins & outs of their signature dishes, and how do they prepare them?
Margo Reuten
The creators have managed to bring together a mouthwatering mix of top Dutch chefs. From established names to exciting newcomers. In addition to the chefs mentioned above, there is also an episode featuring Margo Reuten of Restaurant Da Vinci, the only female Michelin-starred chef in the Netherlands. Among other things, she talks about the setbacks she had to overcome, such as a period of illness and losing her second star in 2018.
Tsang family
The series also profiles the Tsang family, from Restaurant O&O. In 1982, chef Danny and his wife Helena started a Chinese takeaway in the Brabant village of Sint Willebrord. More than thirty years later, the family restaurant—which all the children now also work in—has been transformed into an Asian fine dining restaurant that received a Michelin star in 2018.

In Belgium, renowned chefs are associated with the channel. Famous Njam! chefs include chocolate icon Dominique Persoone, top pastry chef Roger van Damme and three-Michelin-starred chef Peter Goossens (Hof van Cleve). The channel is owned by the entertainment company Studio 100, founded by Gert Verhulst, the man behind successes such as Kabouter Plop, K3, Samson & Gert. Since last year, the channel has also been available in the Netherlands.
This year, the cooking TV channel is investing in programs specifically for the Netherlands, featuring Dutch chefs and foodies. De Sterrenkaart is the first program developed for the Netherlands (more to come).
