Cooking Inspiration on the App

Especially for millennials who lack the knowledge and inspiration to cook for themselves, there is something new: the cooking app Youmiam. This smart app analyzes your lifestyle and preferences and provides recipes and cooking tips based on them. It is already a major hit in France, but the content is now also available in Dutch.

Customized recipes and cooking tips
Over the past five years, the originally French company Youmiam has collected more than 15,000 recipes. These come from magazines and home cooks, chefs, restaurants, bloggers, and more. The app’s smart algorithm adapts to your preferences and ensures that the highest-quality recipes and the recipes users save most often appear at the top.
Sounds fantastic, although you shouldn’t be surprised if you suddenly come across a post featuring products from major brands such as Oreo or Galbani, because they also publish sponsored articles. This is indicated, though, for purists who like to avoid this kind of advertising.
How does it work?
You can download the Youmiam app for free via the Apple Store and Google Play. You then go through a one-time step-by-step process in which you provide details such as your age, household composition, dietary preferences, allergies, cooking level, and preferences for certain cuisines (Italian, Asian, American, etc.). Are there any ingredients you really don’t like? You can enter those too, to prevent them from appearing in your suggestions. Check, check, double-check.
Based on your personal information, you see different recipes each day in the overview. Are you wildly enthusiastic about a particular dish? You can save its recipe in your overview and follow its creator to receive more suggestions.
