Croutons and beyond: 5x crunch on your plate

crunch

A good dish has the right balance of flavors, but also different textures. A bite of Caesar salad is best with a crunchy garlic crouton, right? These are the ways to add some bite to your food.

Bacon
Because bacon makes everything better. Slowly render your bacon over low heat until it is completely crispy. You can do this in the oven or in a pan. Drain and crumble. Delicious on soup, salads, or simply eaten by hand.

Grains
Popping quinoa or buckwheat adds crunch and immediately sounds very chic. While it is actually very easy, just take a look.

Croutons
Perhaps an obvious choice: croutons over your salad. But did you know they are also delicious with tuna tartare? The crunch alongside the soft texture of the fish and avocado really finishes this dish.

Tempeh
Cut tempeh into small cubes and throw them into the deep fryer until they are golden brown and ultra-crispy. Add some salt and they are ready to sprinkle over all your dishes.

Breadcrumbs
Fry panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) with some butter and sprinkle it over everything. Add rosemary or thyme for a topping on pasta, risotto or sautéed mushrooms. Or make a version with cayenne pepper and dried celery and sprinkle it over your chicken thigh or white fish.
