De Hapjeshoek opens second location in Weesperplein metro station

The power of Het Parool; when you receive a good review from them, you’re set for quite some time. With a bit of luck (or bad luck?) there may even be queues outside. Especially when you offer a combination of delicious food, generous portions and affordable prices. That was the case with De Hapjeshoek, which received a 9.5 from Mara Grimm in 2022.

I’m incredibly grateful to her for that, because before then I wasn’t familiar with their food—and since then, I’ve become a fan just like so many others.

Time for a second location

You’ll find De Hapjeshoek in the Waterlooplein metro station; it’s a small eatery that they actually outgrew a long time ago. But the three brothers Jasbir, Gurinder and Surjit, who run De Hapjeshoek together, first had to find a suitable second location before expanding. They succeeded, and by now they also have a large production kitchen. And when it comes to the location: why change a winning team?

Exactly—the second location is also conveniently located in a metro station, specifically Weesperplein station. From now on, you can come here for the well-known Surinamese and Indian dishes, as well as filled sandwiches. It seems to me that this new location is a real bull’s-eye, because with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences within walking distance, students are bound to be happy with their dishes—and their prices.

By the way, if you’re still looking for a part-time job as a student (or as a non-student)… De Hapjeshoek is looking for new staff. I can easily imagine that the staff meals, unlike those at many other hospitality businesses, are at least really good.
