Design the Ocean

FFwedstrijdsardines

Our oceans are not doing well. Plastic soup, overfishing, oil sludge… It’s no fun for, say, a sardine to have to survive in that. What would the ocean look like in the future – say, 30 years from now? Will there even be any sardines left?

Sustainable sardine brand Bart’s Fishtales, in collaboration with Albert Heijn and concept agency Queens of Sardines, is organizing a packaging design competition on precisely this subject. Children up to the age of twelve are being asked to express their dream, idea or vision of the ocean of the future in a drawing, photograph or craft project.

Sardine tins
All entries will be judged by a professional jury led by Bart van Olphen, who will announce the winner on November 25, 2017. The winning design will then become the packaging for Bart’s Fishtales’ sustainably caught sardines.

The winner gets to visit the sardine factory in Portugal

The winner may take a stack of those tins home. But in addition, they—and their parents—may travel to Portugal to see how the sardines are packaged in the winning design.

Exhibition
Not a winning entry, but still simply good? The hundred most beautiful drawings will be exhibited at the Scheltema bookshop in Amsterdam.

Children up to the age of 12 can submit their design by November 15, 2017. Read here all about the terms and conditions.
