In The Great Celebrity Bake Off – Stand Up To Cancer, you won’t see home bakers, but celebrities getting to work with fondant, batter and chocolate. It’s a special season to raise money for more cancer research.
You don’t need to watch this season for baking tips, but it’s definitely hilarious. Different celebrities get to work in each episode, so there’s no competitive element, but their fumbling is entertaining enough.
In the first episode, actor John Lithgow, comedian Jon Richardson, Paralympian Hannah Cockroft and actor/comedian Russell Brand take their turn. Their first challenge: making brownies. That proves more difficult than expected. The jury member Prue Leith is particularly unimpressed with Russel’s: “I think that color is really horrible.” In the third challenge, he makes a vagina out of cookies to depict the birth of his daughter. Say what?

Admit it, secretly it’s wonderful to watch a season in which the bakers are basically just messing around for once. Unfortunately, it’s only broadcast in England, but with a little Googling you can get somewhere: you can watch the first episode here, at least. Immediately hooked? Here’s episode two for you.
