Drink Beer and Support a Filmmaker

Drink beer and sponsor a film? You can do that by drinking Cinema Brewers beer.

For every beer sold, five cents goes to the Cinema Brewers Film Fund. Young, old, artistic or plot-driven, everyone can apply, provided your film costs around €5,000.
Filmmakers Finbarr Wilbrink and Martijn Blekendaal started Cinema Brewers in July 2014. They are filmmakers who love beer, and the idea of making beer with film themes soon emerged. Their beer is inspired by classics such as Pulp Fiction and Back to the Future. What does it taste like? For the Pulp Fiction beer, blueberries, vanilla and red apples were used—all references to the film. At FavorFlav, we immediately think of the quote: “I’ll be back before you can say blueberry pie.”
Beer Tutorials
The men learned how to make beer over the course of a year by testing lots of recipes, reading books and watching beer tutorials on YouTube. And judging by the fact that you can buy their beer at various cinemas, liquor stores and this supermarket, they seem to be doing a pretty good job.
At the moment, Finbarr and Martijn are still gypsy brewers, meaning they brew beer at other breweries such as Troost in Amsterdam and Lindeboom in Limburg. They spend seventy percent of their time making films, leaving the other thirty percent for brewing. But the two are getting busier and busier, so perhaps they will soon devote themselves entirely to making beer. In any case, establishing the fund ensures a strong connection with the film world.
All films made with the help of the Cinema Brewers Film Fund will premiere during the Leiden International Film Festival (from October 28 to November 6, 2016).
