Drinks to keep your head cool

These drinks are just a little more festive than a glass of water or soda. Above all, make a really large jug with lots of ice cubes and refreshment is near.

Lemonade
The ultimate refreshing summer drink. Making your own syrup is easier than you think, and once you have a bottle in the fridge, you can always offer your guests a glass of homemade lemonade. This recipe from Martha Stewart, for example, with lemon and mint.

Iced tea
So much tastier than iced tea from a carton and incredibly thirst-quenching. Once you’ve made your own iced tea, you’ll never go back.

Raspberries
For a large jug, mash about 10 raspberries. Add the juice of 2 limes and 1 lemon and a few sprigs of mint. Dilute with sugar syrup (here’s how to make it) to taste, sprigs of mint, water and plenty of ice.

This also works with different combinations. Blackberries and blueberries are delicious too, or try a combination of strawberry and basil.

Slush puppy
Every child gets greedy when looking at those big machines full of blue and orange slush. Is it ice? Is it a drink? Nobody knows. We do know that you can easily make it at home too, with this recipe, for example. If you want to make it boozy, we understand that and here’s how to do it.

Matcha latte
You can buy matcha powder at the Asian grocery store, and it’s also delicious in waffles, pancakes or cake. But the Japanese intended it as tea. In this recipe, the tea is mixed with milk and ice, a kind of iced tea plus.
