Dry eyes? Eat sushi!

Air conditioning, phones, laptops, tablets and TV screens aren’t doing our eyes much good: you forget to blink, resulting in dry eyes. Research shows there’s a very tasty solution: sushi.

Well, not really sushi—we make it into that. According to researchers at Hokkaido University in Japan, eating oily fish such as tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel can help. In other words: the main ingredients of sushi. Or sashimi, of course.
Omega-3
According to the researchers, dry eye syndrome, a condition that affects the production of tears, is linked to an omega-3 deficiency. And these types of fish happen to be packed with it. Walnuts, flaxseed, soybean oil and chia seeds are too. So for the vegetarians among us, that could be the solution.
Although the Japanese study focused mainly on fish, other research shows that kale, corn, pumpkin, courgette, spinach and fresh parsley can also give your eyes a boost. In the mood for fruit? Kiwi and red grapes are apparently great too.
Blinking
The simplest advice? Just blink your eyes a little more often and close them for a while now and then so they can produce a little more tear fluid. Or simply spend less time staring at your screen, of course.
