Dunes Kijkduin is the ultimate new beach club by the sea: boho vibes, great food and cocktails with a view
Temperatures are rising, and the beach is calling! We have a tip for you: Dunes Kijkduin, the newest beach club in the Netherlands on the boulevard of Nieuw Kijkduin. It has only just opened and is already on our list of favorite beach bars in the Netherlands. Because this is a stylish hotspot where you’ll want to have breakfast, lunch, dinner or endless drinks with a view of the sea.
Beach club with a Mediterranean twist
As far as we’re concerned, Dunes Kijkduin offers the best of both worlds: the relaxed atmosphere of a beach bar combined with a surprising menu that goes far beyond the standard bitterballen. Think all-time favorites such as toasted sandwiches, smash burgers and croquettes, alongside Mediterranean salads, ceviche and even Lebanese pudding.
The evening menu is just as deliciously eclectic: sea bass, pasta arrabbiata, roasted cauliflower with yogurt and pomegranate, and the absolute winner according to the FavorFlav editorial team: chicken suya. These spicy, grilled meat skewers from West Africa are incredibly tasty. That’s thanks to the yaji spice blend (with roasted peanuts, paprika, ginger and cayenne), which gives the dish a spicy, smoky punch you won’t soon forget. The peanut sauce is also delicious. Thick and spicy, with little pieces of peanut—exactly how we like it best.

Two more tips: the stuffed pita with seasoned minced meat, sesame tahini, yogurt, parsley and lemon is irresistible! And the chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) from the drinks menu is the best we’ve ever eaten. No overly greasy, overly thick crunch, but wonderfully subtle and perfectly seasoned.
And the portions? Generous and spot-on
That deserves to be said, too. At Dunes, there are no skimpy sharing platters with three olives. Everything is generous, fresh and simply prepared exceptionally well. Whether you’re a meat lover, pescatarian or fully vegan, there’s something delicious on the menu for you.
Inside or outside: you’re in good hands here
Another reason this place comes highly recommended is its interior and overall look. Inside, it’s spacious, bright and stylish, with natural materials, earthy tones and plenty of serene, beachy details. From long tables to intimate booths, lounge sofas and a sunny conservatory. There’s even a fireplace. And we haven’t even mentioned the terrace yet—right by the sea, with a view and a drink in your hand. Need we say more?

Everyone is welcome
“At Dunes, we want everyone to feel welcome,” says founder Boris Schrama, who also happens to own neighboring Brewdog. “Whether you’re stopping by for a cup of coffee after your workout, want an extensive lunch after a walk on the beach, or feel like celebrating the weekend with wine and bites.” And that’s possible all year round—come rain or shine. Boris welcomes all guests with flair, and the rest of the staff are just as relaxed as the beachside atmosphere.
