Eating at 7 Michelin stars in the Netherlands’ largest one-and-a-half-metre restaurant: here’s where you can do it

Things are getting more and more exciting at the Westergas site in Amsterdam. For example, Grand Caron in the Machine Building is opening (with plenty of French classics on the menu), and 5 Michelin-starred chefs will be cooking there during the summer months. From 1 July through 31 August, the Gashouder at Westergas will be transformed into the largest one-and-a-half-metre restaurant in the Netherlands.

The name of this restaurant is ‘Rond de Tafel‘, which means ‘the new way of dining at a distance of one and a half metres’. Several top chefs are temporarily relocating their kitchens to surprise 100 guests per evening in De Gashouder with an exclusive 5-course menu, accompanied by top-quality wines. Several wine pairings can be booked, ranging from an entry-level pairing to a Grand Cru pairing. An alcohol-free pairing is also available. Something for everyone!
5 chefs, 7 stars
Rond de Tafel is organised in collaboration with Les Patrons Cuisiniers. Les Patrons has existed since 1991. At the time, it was founded by nine Dutch top chefs who wanted to improve craftsmanship, culinary creativity and the quality of gastronomy in the Netherlands. Mission accomplished, because Dutch chefs enjoy great esteem both at home and abroad, and the culinary society of yesteryear has since evolved into a close gastronomic alliance of 22 of the Netherlands’ most prominent chefs, who together hold 25 Michelin stars. The following top chefs have been selected for Rond de Tafel:
- Erik van Loo of Restaurant Parkheuvel in Rotterdam. 2 Michelin stars, from Wednesday 1 through Sunday 12 July;
- Richard van Oostenbrugge of Restaurant 212 in Amsterdam. 1 Michelin star, from Wednesday 15 through Sunday 26 July;
- Egon van Hoof of Restaurant Mos in Amsterdam. 1 Michelin star, from Wednesday 29 July through Sunday 9 August;
- Soenil Bahadoer of Restaurant de Lindehof in Nuenen. 2 Michelin stars, from Wednesday 12 through Sunday 16 August;
- Wilco Berends of Restaurant de Nederlanden in Vreeland. 1 Michelin star, from Wednesday 19 through Sunday 30 August.

Reservations
Due to the size of De Gashouder, maintaining a distance of 1.5 metres combined with the maximum permitted number of guests is no problem at all. Reservations for lunch and dinner are possible from Saturday 13 June via Rond de Tafel. Lunch costs €55 and dinner €69.50.
