FavorFlav park essentials
As soon as the FavorFlav editorial team feels even a hint of warmth, we know how quickly we need to cycle towards the park. And of course, there needs to be food and drinks, too. Here are our favorites.
Chicken legs
Just stop by the butcher or caterer for a bag of cooked chicken legs. That way, you don’t have to start working away in the kitchen at home with all sorts of things first. By the way, don’t forget to bring a pack of baby wipes, because greasy fingers and mouths are guaranteed. And since you’re at the butcher’s anyway, pick up some meatballs too—they’re actually even tastier cold.

Cheese
Of course, you don’t want the whole park to enjoy your stinky cheese, so a mild variety is a good option. FavorFlav’s Nora and Marieke love a triple-cream cheese, which you can nowadays even find at Appie. But if there’s a cheese shop nearby, go for the Delice de Bourgogne.
Ice-cold Emmi CAFFÈ LATTE
The iced coffees from Emmi CAFFÈ LATTE go straight into the cool bag. We want to cool down, not sweat even more. These on-the-go drinks are made with fresh milk and real coffee. I find that a comforting thought. As I mentioned here, the cappuccino variety is the editorial team’s firm favorite. As it is a fresh product, you can find Emmi CAFFÈ LATTE in the fresh section of Albert Heijn and at various petrol stations throughout the Netherlands.
A proper baguette
Seriously, please skip those cotton-wool-like loaves from the supermarket. If you’re at the cheese shop, they’ll surely have good baguettes there (oh, and real butter).
Alcohol
Beer and wine are always a good idea, but a mimosa is much more festive. Our summer favorite is a watermelon version. Just throw everything in the blender, pour it into a bottle with an ice pack, and everyone is happy. You’ll also get some extra vitamins in at the same time. You can read here exactly how to make it.
Oh, and also
- Don’t forget your cutlery, especially a good knife is essential. Just leave the plastic stuff in the shop.
- Pepper, salt and olive oil
- A bag for rubbish—nothing is sadder than a park strewn with waste
