Kesbeke pickle strips
Not that we’re lazy, but it is so convenient that Kesbeke’s large pickles come pre-sliced in the glass jar. When it’s lunchtime in the editorial office, an immediate run on these green strips begins. About five forks at a time eagerly fish around in the jar.
Sweet-and-sour, crunchy and juicy, they are the best accompaniment to our daily bread. Or to the cold leftovers brought from home.
Sweet-and-sour, crunchy and juicy: Kesbeke pickle strips.
Thanks to their tang, the strips are also a great mid-workday pick-me-up. Although we have no problem with them early in the morning either, or in the evening with, say, mashed potatoes or the sloppy joe.
Give us a cocktail stick and we will effortlessly wrap the pickle strip in a slice of luncheon meat. A pickled pearl onion (also from Kesbeke) skewered on top, and the seventies nostalgia is complete.
One question: is that saccharin really necessary?
Available at various supermarkets.
