For all fans: McDonald’s is now selling scented candles of their most popular menu items

McDonald’s is setting us on fire! Can’t get enough of the smell of the fast-food restaurant? No judgements, each to their own. But then we know exactly what gets you fired up on these winter days. Candles scented like iconic menu items. Just imagine your whole house smelling like a warm apple pie. Or French fries…

Or would it smell as though you’ve had the deep fryer on non-stop…? If that’s exactly the smell you love, here’s your chance!

3 iconic scented candles

McDonald’s is launching three types of scented candles. French fries is one of them. It smells like ‘golden-brown potato aroma’ with a subtle, savoury undertone. I don’t know exactly what ‘savoury’ smells like, but I know all too well what the French fries from McDonald’s smell like. The McFlurry smells like vanilla, and then there’s the ‘Apfeltasche’. In other words: the Mini Apple Pies—the warm snack with apple and cinnamon—which are temporarily available again. Now, that scent actually sounds delicious to us!

It is a bit of a disappointment, then, that the scented candles aren’t available at Dutch McDonald’s restaurants. You’ll have to place an order at an Austrian McDonald’s if you want to bring these scented candles home. Is anyone going skiing in Austria soon, by any chance?

Off to Austria

Austrian McDonald’s fans can order the Iconic Candle Collection through a special MyMcDonald’s programme. They can get the candles by redeeming 30 points they’ve saved up or by ordering a voucher for a large McMenu. Good to know for anyone heading to Austria soon who can bring back a load of these candles for us. There is a limited edition, by the way, so, um… Who’s heading that way soonest?! In the meantime, we’ll at least send McDonald’s a desperate plea: bring the scented candles to the Netherlands please too. We want greasy junk in the form of an incredibly deliciously greasy candle, too.

One more appeal to HEMA

McDonald’s isn’t the first chain to turn iconic products into scented candles, by the way. Do you remember the HEMA stroopwafel-scented candle? It was fantastic. We still hope that HEMA will one day realise that this candle should become a permanent part of the range.
