For your ultimate cheat day: deep-fried cheesecake balls

cheesecake balletjes

This. I. Must. My first thought when I heard about deep-fried cheesecake balls. Honestly, I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t want to try this. Does everything get better when you throw it in the deep fryer? Who’s to say (me: yes). These cheesecake bites are definitely highly recommended. Yes, and also a calorie bomb. But you need a cheat day now and then to stay a little mentally healthy, right?!

You do need to set aside some time for this, because the cheesecake you’re going to fry is not a no-bake cheesecake. So you’ll need to use the oven first, but personally, I think this is the most delicious kind of cheesecake.

Ready, set, go

Okay, here we go: the most delicious sweet bites from the deep fryer in the history of ever!

For the cheesecake:

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Combine the cookie crumbs, 50 g sugar and melted butter, and once you have a nice mixture, pour it into the baking tin and press it down firmly.
  • Bake in the oven for eight minutes, then place in the refrigerator.
  • Put the cream cheese and sugar in a bowl and mix with a mixer until it becomes slightly fluffy. Then add the eggs one at a time. If you want a chocolate cheesecake, add the chocolate afterwards (or liqueur, which is always a good idea, of course).
  • Pour the mixture into the baking tin and bake the cheesecake for 45 minutes. Then let it cool for eight hours. Afterwards, you can cut it into small pieces (I personally think rounds look the nicest).

For deep-frying:

  • Set the deep fryer to 180 degrees.
  • Combine one egg with 250 ml milk to make a smooth mixture. Dip the cheesecake pieces into some of this egg mixture using a brush (not too much!).
  • Place each piece in one of the oriental pancakes, and fold them inward toward the center of the top or bottom. Then roll them until you have a nice ball with no corners left open.
  • Time to fry! Carefully (!) place them in the deep fryer and remove them when they are golden brown (after about two minutes). Then dip them in some icing sugar and your ultimate snack is ready. After coating them with icing sugar, let them cool for a moment on kitchen paper, and then the feast can begin. DELICIOUS.

P.S. You can pimp them up even more with chocolate sauce or whipped cream and, since you’re already at it, I would definitely do that.
