Japanese fruit sandwich

These may be less Instagram-worthy, but the combination of sweet white bread, whipped cream and fresh, refreshing fruit makes this a delicious sweet snack. You can opt for a fruit mix or just strawberries. Whichever you think looks—or rather, tastes—better.

Blackberries and brie

Fresh blackberries are a treat, but blackberry jam is a favourite on bread. Whether you make it yourself or use it from a jar, it’s delicious as the base for this toast with melted brie. Top with some thyme.

Cherries and ricotta

The sweetness of the cherries and the freshness of the lemon come together perfectly on toasted bread with soft ricotta and crunchy pistachios. All the flavours in one bite.

Elvis French toast

Officially, this is supposed to be a toasted sandwich, but it’s mainly about the combination of peanut butter and banana. Always a winner. Pop it in the oven for a moment and the peanut butter becomes so deliciously drippy.

Grilled peach, avocado and cheddar

You may be thinking, huh? Avocado and peach and cheddar? Absolutely. Since avocado also has a slightly sweet flavour, and white cheddar does too (provided it isn’t too sharp), they go together perfectly. And besides, what’s not to like about melted cheese?

Red berries and ricotta on ciabatta

A classic combination: red berries and ricotta. Found in many a dessert, now on toast. Ciabatta toast, that is.
