Genius: Schmidt Zeevis opens Herring Drive-Through!
Schmidt Zeevis Rotterdam, in other words: the best fishmonger in the country, is opening a Herring Drive-Through. And that is exactly what you think it is: a place where you can pick up fresh herring by car.
The company, which has been around for 104 (!!) years and is also a purveyor to the royal household, didn’t want to simply reopen the shop. No, no, it had to become — in their words — ‘legendary‘. So on Friday, June 12, they are opening their Herring Drive-Through.
The name says it all: you can only get fresh herring there (with or without a white bread roll). For your other fish shopping, you’ll need to go into the regular shop, which is also open as usual, with the necessary coronavirus measures, of course.
To use the Herring Drive-Through, go to the back of the shop on Rotterdam’s Matlingeweg.
This fish fest will open festively on Friday and Saturday. For the rest of the month, the Herring Drive-Through will be open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
