GINtastic! Hendrick’s has a new gin and is celebrating it for a whole week in this secret garden
The wildly popular Hendrick’s Gin (how many cucumbers have you soaked in your gin over the past few years?) has a floral new sister: Midsummer Solstice. And to celebrate this limited edition, a truly unique location has been chosen – and you can be there!
Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice
Unlike ordinary gins, Hendrick’s Gin is distilled in Scotland, in the rather ‘un-gin-like’ coastal town of Girvan, and handcrafted in small batches of just 500 litres at a time. The new Midsummer Solstice was developed by Hendrick’s Master Distiller Lesly Gracie and inspired by ‘the mysterious enhancing effect of the solstice sun on flowers in full bloom’. Yes, you have to think of it.
Hendrick’s Gin summer garden
In collaboration with the team at Bar The Tailor, the – secret – courtyard of NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky has been transformed into a mystical Hendrick’s summer garden. James Chaib of Bar The Tailor, named Best Bartender in the Netherlands in 2019, developed a special cocktail menu for this extraordinary summer garden. We went ahead and checked it out, and it has to be said: what an amazing location! We felt like Alice in Ginland, surrounded by Hendrick’s Gin oddities (have you ever seen a flying cucumber?) and enjoyed the delicious cocktails and snacks. Want to get started at home? Then get yourself a bottle of Midsummer Solstice and get shaking! The fresh and floral character of Midsummer Solstice is delicious in a simple gin and tonic, a fruity mimosa and a floral martini. The perfect serve is a so-called Midsummer Solstice Spritz; the combination of Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice, sweet vermouth, Prosecco and a splash of tonic water will spontaneously make the sun shine.
