Got rice, bitch?

This one’s for all the Asian food and hip-hop lovers. In the track A-Zn Foods by hip-hop group Year Of the Ox (YOX), all your favorite Asian dishes make an appearance.

With bars like ‘Before I learned to talk I learned the hand-water ratio’, ‘If it don’t stink it ain’t real’ and ‘Remember, rice is life’, rappers Lyricks and JL pay tribute to their favorite Asian cuisines – in alphabetical order, mind you. Check out the video below, but know that you’ll be left hungry after watching it:
Criticism
Alongside their tribute, the rappers criticize the fact that Asian cuisine was once reviled by many, while nowadays you can’t walk into a hipster bar without being bombarded with dumplings, bao buns and kimchi dishes at inflated prices.
The two also express their displeasure with the culinary phenomenon of non-Asian chefs presenting themselves as authorities on Asian cuisine without respecting its authentic dishes and culture. As far as we’re concerned, they certainly have a point, but what really sticks with you is that delicious flow – literally and figuratively.
