Henk Schiffmacher designs chef’s knife

Excitement among chefs, home cooks and even ink enthusiasts: Henk Schiffmacher, world-famous for his needle work, has designed a chef’s knife!

The blade, a substantial 23 cm long, is engraved with a design by the master tattoo artist, and the knife is being released by Diamant Sabatier. Well, then you know you’re in good hands. Sergio Herman has already declared that you can bone a cow with it, but it’s also an excellent size for your vegan preferences. Can you already see it gliding through the cauliflower?

Butcher’s son

This creation is not entirely coincidental; Schiffmacher comes from a family of butchers in Harderwijk, so cutting tools are nothing new to him. Young Henk, however, was more interested in drawing and painting and found his first real job at the Amsterdam Bijenkorf, in the department that designed and set up the window displays. Full circle: the knife will be available exclusively in a limited edition at De Bijenkorf from tomorrow. Hospitality professionals can go to Hanos.

True Love

Schiffmacher, who has given Anouk, Robbie Williams, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lady Gaga, among others, their colours, named the knife after his wife: Louise. If that isn’t true love…

Baby Love

And that’s not all: the chef’s knife is being released together with a smaller knife. This (pocket) knife is called the Chef’s Mate and is perfect for both professional and home cooks. The two are sold together in a luxurious gift box. From 11 September, you’ll find them (while supplies last) at De Bijenkorf and Hanos!
