Hooray! Two Dutch chefs nominated for the title of ‘World’s Best Young Chef’

The leading chefs’ competition for young chefs under the age of 30, the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition 2022/2023, in which new talents cook for the title of the world’s best young chef, has just announced the participants for the Northern European finals in Copenhagen. And hooray: two Dutch chefs are among them.

Who determines the future of gastronomy? For the fifth time, S.Pellegrino is searching for the answer with a jury of renowned chefs. The participating chefs – all aged 30 or younger – go through an intensive selection process for the finals in 2023. Each of them develops their own signature dish, presenting their culinary vision on a single plate. Each participant is guided by a mentor of their own choosing.
From more than 1,000 submitted dishes, the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition selected only the most promising recipes.
Signature dish
In the regional finals, the nominated chefs will showcase their skills to a jury of renowned top chefs. Among the regional finalists are 26-year-old Haarlem chef Eddie Meijboom from Bodega and 23-year-old Jet Loos, chef de partie patisserie at RE-NAA** in Norway.
Eddie Meijboom has worked at ML*, Cheval Blanc* and La Rive. In 2017, he won the Talent of the Future title and earned the title of SVH Gezel Meester. Jet Loos worked at De Groene Lantaarn** and Restaurant Perceel*, among others. Her internship in Scandinavia in the kitchen of RE-NAA** turned into a job as chef de partie patisserie within five months.
