Snackspert is lyrical about AH To Go’s Mexican roll but vomits over the tapas

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his lifetime, suspects there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This week, pizza bitterballen went into the oven and a few (rather gross) bar snacks appeared on the table.

Dr. Oetker Pizza Bitterballen

From Pisa to pizza bitterballen: it’s time to tease Italy, so let’s all buy these Pizza Bitterballen for the air fryer and inform as many Italians as possible about this revolutionary invention by @droetkerpizza_nl. And you know what? Those people are missing out on quite a bit: both a crunchy exterior, which we know from the delicious bitterbal, and a pizza on the inside. Best of both worlds, right? Available in margherita and salami flavours, which is always delicious. Even in a bitterbal. #pizzabitterballen #droetker #borrel #bitterballen #samenwerking
Albert Heijn Bar Snacks
Time for a review of all the new bar snacks from Albert Heijn. Because yes, picnic season has really begun (let’s just forget about tomorrow’s and the day after tomorrow’s weather for a moment), when you can place your bar snacks on those incredibly annoying paper plates that can’t even hold a frikandel. Let’s start with the one that seemed tastiest to me: the cream cheese bonbons. But this is just as big a disappointment as a bird shitting on your brand-new coat: it’s absolutely nothing. You hope for the texture of a mozzarella ball, but it’s as soft as bird droppings. And it may be ‘seasoned’, but there’s about as much seasoning in it as there is alcohol in a Radler. Impossible. ⭐️

But I’m not only angry, because the albondigas (Spanish meatballs) are really quite good. Good, firm texture, good tomato sauce. Not too sweet either—really great. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
——————————————————
Unfortunately, we move on to the next disappointment: the vegetable spring rolls. Just as sexless as Ivo Niehe as the host of a programme on the Meiden van Holland channel. ⭐️⭐️
——————————————————
But it can get even worse: the Mediterranean chicken meatballs are awful. Truly impossible. The texture is scandalous, so soft that you think they’ve gone bad. As soft as overcooked fish—really disgusting. They tried to make it somewhat flavourful by adding sun-dried tomato, but that’s stale too. ⭐️
——————————————————
I’ll end on a small positive note: the olive tapenade balls are fine. Nothing more than that. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Albert Heijn Mexican Roll

Hello @AlbertHeijn, I have a question: why is this divine Mexican roll currently only available at AH To Go? I want it around the corner too. So I can simply walk three minutes to your supermarket and get an AA Drink and one of these Mexican rolls with my terrible hangover. Because guys, I already thought Albert Heijn’s frikandel roll was the best, but it’s lucky that the Mexican roll has no competition, because otherwise it would have won first prize too. What. A. Roll! A little thinner than a regular mexicano, but the dough-to-meat ratio is absolutely perfect here. The spicy chili-mustard-like sauce is very nice, although I might have made it a little sweeter. But if that’s the only thing, there’s really very little wrong with it. Get it to all the supermarkets quickly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
