It sounds so simple: just make some scrambled eggs. But this video proves that many people haven’t got a clue how to prepare perfectly fluffy, soft scrambled eggs.

Food site Epicurious asked fifty people to prepare scrambled eggs. What follows is hilarious. Eggs are thrown into the pan without whisking them first: ‘Oh you know what I forgot to do?! Scramble!’, butter is forgotten: “Do I need butter?’ and everything is fried for too long: “They’re more like fried eggs but scrambled.”

Tips

So how should it be done? Chef Robert Ramsey fortunately shows us: mix the eggs thoroughly and add the seasoning before putting them in the pan. Then add some butter to the pan and, above all, don’t let the pan get too hot. As Ramsey says: “If you hear a loud sizzle when your eggs go in, your pan is too hot.” He then briefly stirs the egg mixture over the heat, but turns it off fairly quickly. Why? The eggs continue to cook for a little while from the heat of the pan. Et voilà: there you have your perfect scrambled eggs.
