Huh? Ever thought that you can put the bin bag in the bin another way?
WHAT?! I can’t make anything else of it, this was genuinely my reaction when I heard that there apparently is a right and a wrong way to put a bin bag in a bin. Yeahhh… do you need a moment to let that sink in too? Below you’ll find a demonstration of this rather shocking revelation.
First of all: how difficult is it to stuff a bin bag into a bin? Maybe not a question for the average lazy teenager (or perhaps exactly so), but most people will never have stopped to consider that this can be done more efficiently (or differently at all) than simply shaking open the bag and then diving into it, bag and all, up to your elbow or armpit (depending on how tall the bin in question is). Well, this young woman managed to leave us fairly astonished:

Because on TikTok, you know, that medium that shows us household hacks that unleash a whole new wave of domestic ingenuity around the world, a user named @ch0zi first shares the astonishing fact that some (all??) bin bags apparently have an inside and an outside, which you can see from the seam along the edges. Just like a piece of clothing. Um, okay… did you know this?
Never too old to learn
We didn’t. Next, a trick is shared that really isn’t super complicated, but does belong to the category of ‘I’ve genuinely never seen or known this before’. Apparently, you can also place a bin bag upside down, like a little hat, over the bin and then push it inside. That way, the hem (if your bin bag has one) is immediately on the inside too.
Nahhhh. No idea, we had no clue about this. And is it essential? No, absolutely not. And in my opinion, you’re really not doing it wrong if you simply keep doing your own thing with your bin bag. But it remains fun to see how some people make discoveries about everyday things that you yourself might never have stopped to think about.
