Is it ever okay: faking an engagement so you can ‘taste’ cake for free?

There are those questions you’d like to ask, but don’t always dare to. Luckily, we’re here for you. Not only to ask these pressing questions about life, but also to answer them as best we can. This time: is it okay to fake an engagement so you can taste cake for free?

Steffi: “The answer is of course no. But I’d be lying if I said I’d never considered it. I once tried on all kinds of dresses with friends in a boutique because we supposedly were ‘bridesmaids’. Well, by the time I actually became a bridesmaid, I was quickly cured of that idea too. Man, what a hassle and fuss. They should have given me that cake tasting instead.”
Sabina: “Oh, is that a thing? That you can taste cake somewhere for free if you say it’s for your wedding? Where can you do that? I’m asking for a friend.”
Sharon: “Karma is a bitch.”
Delilah: “Ehm – yes. Let’s, for God’s sake, all taste as much cake as possible everywhere, always.”
Marcel: “I don’t care about cakes, but I care all the more about civil disobedience, so by all means do your thing. Although, if I were a cake lover, I’d rather buy a pastry from a trained pastry chef and devour it at home with a glass of champagne, with someone you genuinely like.”
Adeline: “Hahaha, uuuuuh: no. I’d put you in the same category as restaurant thieves.”
Lauretta: “No. Although ‘tasting cake for free’ does of course sound very appealing. Still, I’d rather honestly pay for my slice of cake. Good girl, right?”
