Is microdosing becoming the latest trend?

microdose

Let me start by saying that I’m absolutely no hero when it comes to drugs. Of course, everyone should do what they want, but I’m too much of a control freak for that. And wanting to be in control of everything isn’t exactly great for your stress levels. Or for making it harder to relax when you’re off. But now there’s a new kid in town for that: iMicrodose from Red Light Truffles.

And yes, the name gives it away a little: they are indeed magic truffles. When you hear Red Light Truffles, you might think it’s mainly about spacing out and recreational use, but that’s not the case.

So what is it?

The active substance in magic truffles is psilocybin, which has a hallucinogenic effect—if you use it in large quantities. But the idea is to microdose it. One small side note is that the medical use of microdoses has not (yet) been scientifically proven, although they are increasingly being used for these purposes.

It can help with depression, stress, anxiety attacks and PMS. People with ADHD/ADD also use it to improve their concentration, and it may help with burnout.

Todd Shapiro at the helm of Red Light Truffles

Red Light Truffles was founded by Canadian Todd Shapiro, who himself struggled with stress and anxiety attacks. Microdosing has reduced these symptoms considerably, and he says it has given him a ‘clear mind’. I often find it difficult to truly relax, so I’m definitely open to natural, edible solutions like this.

Because yes, you eat these. The magic truffles are sold in their natural, raw and unprocessed form and must be refrigerated before use. Todd Shapiro simply takes them pure (and genuinely enjoys the taste), but the good thing is that the leaflet contains detailed instructions on how to use them. They are not officially allowed to make medical claims, although they are working on obtaining an EU-GMP certificate so that this may change.

If you recognize yourself in this story a little, and also suffer from stress, PMS or, for example, a short attention span, microdosing might be something for you. iMicrodose from Red Light Holland is available here.
