Italian restaurant TOZI has a special truffle menu (and it’s not expensive)
TOZI, the Italian restaurant in Amsterdam-Zuid, has been one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city for years. And good news: through January 30, 2025, TOZI is serving a special truffle menu for €39 per person.
Now those are prices that make us happy. Less than forty euros for a complete menu. Small side note; the portions are meant to be shared. The name TOZI means ‘a group of friends’ in the Venetian dialect, but it also refers to the food culture of this Italian region. And yes, that means shared dining.
The most delicious courgette fritti
After a basket of wonderfully crisp breadsticks, our all-time favorite arrives at the table: crispy and salty courgette fritti. We’ve eaten these at many restaurants, but we unanimously agree: they are the very best here. On the one hand, that’s because they are truly paper-thin, and on the other, because they are so deliciously salty. They come with a bowl of truffle mayonnaise.
Next comes a plate of brioche filled with chicken liver pâté—with black truffle—and wild berry compote. Incredibly delicious! The pâté is alternated with pieces of toasted brioche, which makes for a wonderfully flavorful combination.
Iconic black truffle risotto
TOZI’s—by now iconic—black truffle risotto is incredibly delicious too. As you would expect from a good Italian restaurant, the risotto is brilliant in terms of texture, the whole dish is wonderfully creamy and balanced; not too creamy, not too salty, and the only thing we add is a little black pepper (which is remarkably crisp and full of flavor here).
Buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffle
The main course is slow-cooked oxtail served with cauliflower foam, gravy and a touch of black truffle. And thoughtfully; if you’re not a fan of oxtail, you can choose an alternative of approximately the same value. Still have room for an extra bite? Order the delicious buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffle. And don’t forget to ask for some bread to wipe up that delicious layer of butter from your plate…
We finish with a generous tiramisu—not for sharing this time, but a whole glass for yourself.
