Japan is suffering from a genuine sushi terrorism wave
We all learned as children that playing with food isn’t allowed, right? Well, apparently not in Japan — sushi restaurants there are dealing with actual terrorists. This hype is going viral on social media, and restaurant owners are absolutely not happy.
It really is incredibly disgusting: videos of teenagers licking soy sauce bottles and then putting them back on the conveyor belt. These types of sushi spots are very popular in Japan; you pick your own piece from a conveyor belt and pay for everything afterward.
All of Japan is now dealing with it
The video of the disgusting person licking that soy sauce bottle went completely viral and marked the beginning of this sushi terrorism, leading to many copycats across the country. Sad, absolutely gross, and especially unfortunate for the restaurant owners: by now, things have reached the point where they are noticing that their revenue has plummeted.
That’s because people no longer dare to eat at these kinds of restaurants, afraid of this type of terrorism and concerned about poor hygiene. Understandable, but still incredibly sad. New rules have now been introduced at the sushi restaurant where it all began, called Gifu. Customers are now required to collect chopsticks and other extras (such as soy sauce) from a central point, and disinfectant is available everywhere.
Other chains suffering greatly from this terrorism, Hama-sushi and Kura Sushi, are also working on introducing new rules — and are considering legal action.
